Privacy Policy

01The short version

Your photos, notes, reactions and clubs live in iCloud: in your own Apple Account, or in the account of the person who shared them with you. We, the developer, can't see them, and we don't collect anything about you.

02Where your photos live

A photo you take in Photo Tape is saved in your private iCloud database, which belongs to your Apple Account. When you share your days with someone, iCloud sharing lets their Photo Tape read them. When you post to a club, the photo is saved in the club owner's iCloud, where every member of the club can see it.

Removing someone from your feed ends their access. Leaving a club ends yours; a club owner can remove or block members.

03What uses Apple's public iCloud database

A few small things have to be readable by anyone using Photo Tape, so they live in the app's public iCloud database. Your photos never go there; a sticker cut from one goes there only if you publish it.

The sticker shelf

The catalogue of sticker packs. It is the same for everyone and says nothing about you.

Published stickers

A sticker a Pro member chooses to publish, with an anonymous ID of the person who made it, for as long as they keep it published.

Follow requests

When you ask someone to share their days back: your anonymous iCloud ID and theirs, your first name and your emoji. A request expires after 30 days.

Reports

When you report a sticker someone published: the report, the sticker it is about, and anonymous IDs, so it can be reviewed.

04What we never collect

No account with us, no email address, no contacts, no location and no advertising identifier. The app has no ads and no analytics or tracking code.

A short diagnostics log stays on your iPhone to help fix problems. It never leaves your phone unless you choose to share it with us.

05Permissions

Each one is optional, and you can change it any time in Settings.

Camera

To take today's photo.

Photos

To pick a photo from your library, and to save the prints and clips you choose to save.

Notifications

To remind you to post, and to tell you when someone posts, reacts or asks you to share back.

06Purchases

Pro is sold by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details; Apple only tells the app whether you have Pro.

07Children

Photo Tape is not meant for children under 13.

08This website

phototape.app sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from another site. Like any website, its server keeps short-lived technical logs, such as the IP address and the page asked for, to keep the site running and secure.

09Changes

If this policy changes, this page and the date at the top change with it.
